Tools needed: A pencil, highlighter, FABSHEET-WANT (that you've already started...if not, go back one lesson and do that one first) or that same piece of notebook paper you were just using.
If you're not clear about what you DON'T want in life, you might just get it!
Hi, I'm Lisa Barry, a radio DJ who's been in pursuit of a fabulous life for 20 years and I'm here to help you get unstuck from an average life and give you the tools and secrets to create a fabulous one.
If we're going to figure out what your Fabulous Life, looks like, not only do we need to identify what you want, but also what you DON'T want.
Now that you've got the left side of your FABSHEET-WANT filled out , it's time to work on the right side of the worksheet. If you haven't done that yet, hop back one lesson and fill out the left side first.
Unlike the last exercise, this time, you're going to write down everything you do NOT want in your life. Again, we're not trying to be realistic here, or logical. Don't evaluate any of the things on your list. Just write them down.
If you need a little help coming up with things you might write down: 'I don't want to live in a cold climate' or 'I don't want to be away from my children' or 'I don't want to get sick. Just like last time, spend ample time on this part of the exercise because things will come to mind only as you pause and let your mind wander. Don't worry about being realistic here. We're not evaluating our list, just making it.
You may discover it's a lot harder to think about what you don't want as opposed to what you DO want! That's because you're never taught to do that in life. You're only told to dream good things, wishes, only positives. But identifying what you DON'T want is very important because if you don't, it's a lot easier drift into places you don't want to go just by being unaware.
Ok, let me help you come up with a few more ideas of things you might want in this column beyond what I mentioned above. Keep in mind some of these things will only be a reversal of what's on your want list but try to be more specific on this side, if you can.
You may not want....
a boss over you
wrinkles
to be motivated by fear
boring
uninteresting
a helicopter parent
unhealthy eater
addicted to (drugs, alcohol, food, shopping, gambling)
burnt out
sleep deprived
manipulated
stuck at one level in your job
micromanaged
So you get the idea. Take your time because the first things you come up with will be more obvious, but the things you come up with toward the end of your brainstorming will often be more helpful and insightful.
